Empowering communities to build wealth through everyday spending using the Krotoa Card
The Krotoa Bridge Builder Fund is a structured community capital initiative designed to launch and scale the Krotoa ecosystem-a fintech-enabled economic platform connecting everyday spending to shared ownership and community wealth creation. The fund will activate technology, expand manufacturing and create retail partnerships to create jobs in communities.
THE BACKGROUND
An educator witnessing poverty. It started during Covid when I had to feed the school children. Then the community approached me with their problems. I then decided to at least ensure that all children had uniforms. Thus Krotoa was founded to deliver on this.

THE PLAN
To build a scalable community economic ecosystem where spending power becomes ownership power. To direct a portion of everyday consumer spending into a shared value creation through the Krotoa fintech Card, manufacturing and retail partnerships.
To create employment opportunities within communities. Up to 20% of distributable profit will be allocated to structured community participation mechanisms.

Project FAQ
Who am I?
- Ebrahim Abrahams, an educator who founded Krotoa to assist communities.
Where are we based?
- I teach at a school on the Cape Flats.
- Krotoa is also based in Cape Town. It operates a factory in the poor suburb of Lotus River and a physical shop in Beaufort West.
Why Crowdfunding?
- Centuries ago, a woman whose name was Krotoa, stood between two worlds. Today Krotoa is standing between the old economy and the new shared economy.
- We are building the Bridge and see the crowd as the foundation of this bridge as they are not backing a product, but backing the bridge.
What is the plan once 100% funding is received?
- To scale Krotoa to activate technology by giving community members the Krotoa Card to use in stores.
- To expand manufacturing to create more local jobs.
- To open more retail stores to provide additional employment opportunities.
- To give 20% of distributable profit to communities to expand economic opportunities and share wealth.
